FAQ

Everything you want to know before your first round.

General

What is Round Tonight?

An app to spontaneously join a round at a bar near you – or start one yourself. Tonight, with new people.

Is this a dating app?

No. Rounds are groups of 3 to 10 people. It's about meeting, chatting and raising a glass – not matching.

Where is Round Tonight available?

We're currently testing with selected people on Koh Samui and in Berlin, Vienna, Zurich and Chur. More cities will follow.

Do I have to drink alcohol?

Not at all. Add alcohol-free to your profile – it's welcome in every round.

Rounds

Why do I only see the bar after being accepted?

For everyone's safety: only accepted guests know exactly where the round is.

How big is a round?

3 to 10 people including the host. The host sets the size.

How long does a round last?

Until the host closes it, 4 am at the latest.

What if the host doesn't answer?

After 15 minutes the request expires automatically and you get your credits back.

Is there a chat?

Yes, every round has a chat for the host and accepted guests – e.g. for “We're at the back on the left”. If you never check in, you lose access when the round ends. The chat is deleted 24 hours after the round. You can report messages via “⋯”.

Can I come on my own?

That's exactly what Round Tonight is for. Most people come alone.

What are scheduled meetups?

Meetups at fixed times at selected venues, without a host, in German or English. They go ahead with 3 or more sign-ups, at tables of up to 6.

Can I bring friends?

Yes, up to 2 – via a link from the round or meetup. They need their own account and pay their own credits.

Why don't I see names before joining?

To protect everyone. You see the others' details (e.g. gender, languages, drinks) – names only once you're in.

Credits & passes

What does it cost?

Starting is free. Joining costs 2 credits – rounds, meetups and events alike. 10 credits cost €9.99.

When am I charged?

For rounds only when the host accepts, for meetups only when they go ahead. Until then, the credits are just on hold.

Do credits expire?

Purchased credits never do. Free ones (starter credits, launch-phase package, host, captain and invitation bonus) are valid for 60 days and are used first.

Are there free credits?

During the launch phase, yes: at 3 credits or less you can get 100 credits for €0.00 under Credits – no payment, valid for 60 days.

What do I get for hosting?

1 credit per checked-in guest, up to 5 per night.

Account & safety

What data do you need from me?

Only your email address (stored as an irreversible hash) and a name or nickname. We check your date of birth once for 18+ and don't store it. Everything else is optional.

I'm just visiting – can I still join?

Yes! Holiday, business trip or just moved here: simply sign up with your email address – from any country. You'll get the code by email. You'll find rounds wherever you are.

Why do I need an email address?

So you can sign in without a password and each person has only one account. We don't store the address itself, only a hash of it – you won't get ads or newsletters from us.

How do I delete my account?

In your profile under “Your data” → “Delete account”. It takes effect immediately. You can download all your data there first.

How do I report or block someone?

In the round, tap “⋯” next to the person and choose “Report” or “Block”. You won't see blocked people or their rounds any more; you can undo this in your profile. Our team usually handles reports within 24 hours.

Can I use the app in English?

Yes. Switch to English under “App language” in your profile – the setting is saved to your account.

Why does the web app need my location?

Round Tonight shows what's happening near you right now. We only use your location for searching and checking in, and we don't store it.

I run a venue – how do I create events?

Register your venue at roundtonight.com/venue (or in your profile: “Run a venue?”). Once we've approved it, you'll find everything under Profile → “My venue”.
